We all know that trends come and go, but remind the nation that farmers’ markets are your most intimate link between growers and you!
This week is fresh in so many respects. Let Leonard Oakes help celebrate diversified options for fresh, local food with 3 new white wines arriving Thursday: an unoaked, 2009 chardonnay, Blanc d’Orleans and their 2009 Riesling. EcoBella will make their first appearance of the year known with phenomenal vegan, gluten-free breads! Honeyhill Farm will also bring those yummy Red Gold potatoes for the first time this year.
Bernie Heveron will delight your ears, while Kinderiffic entertains the kids. Remember to stop by the manager’s booth and get a Wedge Veg Passport to teach healthy eating young, and they’ll get a plum! Highland Family Planning will also have information on their sliding-scale services.
Rochester Roots will have heirloom vegetables: basil, eggplant, swiss chard, kale, collards, field greens, garlic, beans, and red and green okra. We will have beans, summer squash (small patty pan, yellow straightneck, ronda de nice), cucumbers (slender slicers and pickling), blackberries, limited blueberries, cherry tomatoes and watermelon.
Of course, we expect the day to be almost as hot as the food–and so we will have free ice water, lemonade, and shade!
Join us between 4 and 8pm, and choose the food less traveled!
