Hey [firstname,fallback=Guy's],

Market Day…Market Day…Market Day! CHICKENS are back from Honeyhill Farm, Limited amounts of ASPARAGUS will be resting on Clearview’s market table, and STRAWBERRIES are only a week away!!! The season of local foods, like a rainy mountain flood, starts slow and eventually overwhelms you…come and see for yourself!

Grand Re-Opening Next Week!

Join Mayor Duffy, ALL of our market’s vendors, and your friends and neighbors for The Grand Re-Opening of The South Wedge Farmers’ Market. The celebration kicks off at 4:00 p.m. with exciting comments on “The State of The Market”, then an opening day, inaugural “lettuce toss”, and then right into the great food, music, and merriment to be had at the market…as you can see, it’s a day you will not want to miss!

Food Preservation Workshops

In an attempt to help customers preserve, store, and savor the flavors and benefits of local foods all year round, The South Wedge Farmers’ Market is working with CCE to run a series of Food Preservation Workshops!

Core Principle of the Week…

Each week we will feature one of the principles foundational to the effort that is The South Wedge Farmers’ Market, a reminder of the important and celebratory project YOU are part of!

HEALTH.

Nothing is more critical to our health than what we consume. We are what we eat. Good, whole foods that are free of harmful chemicals, dense with nutrients, and representative of the basic food groups are the foundation of good health for all people. Eating fresh, local foods that are grown in ecologically sound ways offers this direct health benefit AND the indirect health benefit of supporting a food system that dramatically reduces harmful air, water, and soil pollution in our surrounding environments.

Now Swiping Cards of all Types!

The South Wedge Farmers’ Market now welcomes EBT Cards/Food Stamp Benefits and Credit and Debit Cards! Our new wireless terminal is hooked up and in place, stop by the Market Management Tent to swipe your benefit, credit, or debit card and receive tokens to spend at the market!

THE FIRST 5 DOLLARS SPENT WITH FOOD STAMP BENEFITS WILL BE DOUBLED FOR EACH PERSON, EACH WEEK!!!

What is EBT? Find out more here.

Second Storie} @ the Market

one thing i know for certain: rain or shine, there will be an abundance of loveliness under the second storie tent! joAnn mcGranahan, one of our second storie co-founders, will have her delightful handmade silk flower pins as well as other darling sewn creations there for you to swoon over! you might have seen joAnn’s flowers around town adding a bit of spring to a passerby’s coat, or crowning glory.

You can often find them in some truly gorgeous colors at sassafrass. joAnn recently opened an etsy shop called refashioned.

Music at the Market

This week we have something different. The performance is an all vocal group: InnerLoop.

InnerLoop is an energetic all-male contemporary a cappella group based in Rochester, NY. Our goal is to play an active role in our community and share our enthusiasm for music through our entertaining performances.

Vendor of the Week

We are going to highlight a vendor or two each week with a short video. This week we kick it off with Lighthouse Gardens. Todd has a lot of perennial 4-packs for sale. Plant once and grow: year, after year, after year…

Parking at the Market

Parking for the market has sometimes been tricky…those days are over! If you cannot find a parking spot on the street close to the market, we now have access to a huge parking lot ONE block from the market. Follow the signs to the lot on the corner of Alexander and Broadway, just on the other side of 490. If you park on Alexander, parking sides switch at between 6 and 7. When you’re done shopping, stop by the Management Tent if you need help getting all your veggies to your car! We’d be happy to help!
